First time taught: my newest imitative technique!

Pietra Dura:  Renaissance Stone Inlays
    May 23 + 24,
    The ArtWay, Damascus MD
Perfected in the Renaissance, ‘Pietra Dura’ is inlaid semi-precious stone. Emporers and kings, popes and potentates, all had extraordinary furniture and jewelry made with pietra dura, wherein thin stone layers are jigsawed together to mimic shadows, fruit, landscapes, foliage, and the like: resembling miniature paintings.
These beautiful pieces have fascinated us all for hundreds of years: now you‘ll be making your own!
    Pietra Dura in Polymer Clays:
A brand-new imitative technique, evoking Renaissance extravagance! You’ll learn to
    - create a range of imitative ‘stone lamina’
    - design special imagery for this technique
    - secrets to cut, fit, and assemble the imitative elements into your miniature paintings.
    - create flawless backfills for the elements in your designs
    - learn imitative finishing techniques specific to polymer pietra dura, for beautifully refined pieces.
You’ll leave with a brooch and pendant, a collection of polymer pietra dura materials for future pieces, and a new technique that will inspire your work!
